There is nothing to show here

I need a solution for this issue that I am having with photos app. when I delete some pictures I keep getting a message that says there is nothing to show here and I can not go to the next picture until I close out of that screen. I do have many pictures so the message is incorrect.it happens randomly.
Thank you,

you can open a window with explorer, and check if there are pictures to be shown on that location ( they may have been moved, or deleted)
If you want to do serious image management, then you need more than the Windows photo application. Tools like ACDSee or Picasa.
just a note about Picasa (from https://picasa.google.com/):
Moving on from Picasa
We’ve decided to retire Picasa in order to focus on a single photo service in Google Photos – a new, smarter photo app that works seamlessly across mobile and the web.
...
Can I still use the desktop application?
For those who have already downloaded it, it will continue to work as it does today. But we will not be developing it further, and there will be no future updates.
may i suggest digiKam, a free app, which can be downloaded here: https://www.digikam.org/

Hi Andrew,

I agree with you 100%, however this issue happens once again in the middle of the folder contents before the end. I am not sure what causes it? I will see if anyone else has any suggections. I will give IrfanView a try and see if it is easy to manage photos with but I still would like to find out what is causing the issue that I am having.

Thank you Andrew,

Hi Basem,

Yes, seems strange that you would get an error and the only thing I can think of is that after a delete, the Photos app is skipping to the end of the pictures rather than to the next one available after you delete. Strange behaviour but not something I've noted as I find the MS app lacking in too many ways so I rarely use it.

Good idea for you to wait for other opinions as other experts may well use it as their default viewer too.

Best, Andrew
Can someone help me please? Here is a short video that I made but it does not duplicate the problem unfortunately but it shows what it is?

Thank you,

Paul,
Let me install that and I will let you know if I run into any issues.

Paul,

I did install it and it looks like a very good app. However, I am used to the Photos app and I am very comfortable with it if I only can fix these nuances that come up every now and then.
I hope someone knows how to fix this problem.
Thank you,

Hi Paul,

I did what you suggested and I am just waiting to see when the issue will come back I will give it 2 more days and I will let you know.

Thank you,

Basem Khawaja
Explorer has a small problem that can randomly lead to the "nothing to show" issue.
Usually the problem is resolved by striking the F5 key to refresh the screen.

Example:
I view a directory with several hundred files sorted by Name.
I delete a few, then page forward then backwards. Some of the previously deleted files are "ghosts" which still show in the directory.  When that happens, I simply strike the F5 key and Explorer will refresh the directory which causes the ghosts to disappear.

But, if I forget to use F5, any attempt to open the ghost, will get the "nothing to show message"

p.s.  Explorer is trying to save computer time by not refreshing and resorting every time a file changes.  A refresh can chew up a lot of resources when a directory has thousands of files that are shared with other users on the server.

If I try to open one of them I will get them I get the "Nothing to show" message.

Hi Basem,

You said to Paul;

I did what you suggested and I am just waiting to see when the issue will come back I will give it 2 more days and I will let you know.

I just like to suggest you give it at least 5 days to a week for a proper test to see if the problem recurs.

Best, Andrew
Andrew,

I will follow your advice. Thank you very much for your input and looking out for me.

Have a great day,
