Simulate Word Columns In Excel

If I create a 3 column Word document and populate it with one text item per line,
I can sort all 3 column as one, with one single Sort A-Z click.

I want to do the same in Excel with three columns A1:C50
(There are no formulae and nothing will be entered outside A1:C50)
How do I make excel ignore row 51 and below?
How do I 'link' A50 to B1 and B50 to C1 for sorting purposes?

In the attached 5 row demo sheet .....
If I add "ARCHIE" into C3 and then A-Z sorting is implemented
ARCHIE would be sorted to the A4 position and JACK would move down to C3

Why do I want to do this you may ask .... I need to see 100+ alphabetically sorted text items
on my monitor without scrolling with the ability add, remove and re-sort items.

If you could add an A-Z sort button that would be brilliant!

What should your 5-row sample look like after sorting?

The sorting order is the normal everyday reading order for columnar text, viz.
A1 A1 A3 A4 A5 B1 B2 B3 B4 B5 C1 C2 C3 C4 C5
