Registry Item via Group Policy

After modifying a Windows 10 client's Registry via group policy. If that client is removed from the OU and the GPO no longer applied, does the registry entry revert or does the new/updated key remain in the Registry?
Any help would be much appreciated.

If it's a Group Policy Preference Registry item, it will stay in place until you set up a "Delete" GPO or remove it manually.

Thanks for the super -quick reply, James.

So, will un-linking the GPO remove the registry item?

Thanks again

...please note that latter option has no effect setting it after the GPP item has already applied - it needs to be set right from the start.
