I can't create a new member to a lastpass family account

Currently, I have been using premium lastpass on both my wife's and my own computer. I We share the same collection of passwords for various sites. I am trying lastpass for families based on my computer and am trying to create a separate account for my wife on her own computer. Whenever I try to create her account it always fails after having entered her id and password another box is greyed out and it doesn't work. How can this be corrected?

Did you try these steps from their Knowledgebase?
Which particular box is greyed out or the name of the box\field? Do not share personal account info and remember to block out personal data if you share screenshots. Did she receive an invitation from you and you are setup as a Family Manager on the account? Did you select Add and she's present in the family list? Are you able to remove and re-add her new separate account that is failing to register? What web browser are you using - Chrome?

I am using Firefox
Sorry, I was away for a bit. Did you select the LastPass icon in the upper-right hand corner that's greyed out as well per your shared screenshot of Chrome? Is it greyed out or options for her account fail in both Chrome and Firefox when you try to get her account signed in. I wonder if its caching something in the browser history or cache in general on your web browsers. If you clear the cache or browsing history, then you may have to sign into accounts again.

I don't see any system or service outages on their side-LastPass's to when you reported the issue in their event history too: https://status.lastpass.com/history

If you were using Firefox, its possible the session is conflicting or elsewhere with other active sessions for i.e. Chrome or elsewhere. If you Go to the Extension icon > Account Options > Advanced (There is an Other Sessions) option to terminate all current sessions except the one you're in on the right, you can view how many sessions are open etc. and clear local cache from the extension. https://support.logmeininc.com/lastpass/help/how-do-i-clear-the-local-cache-for-my-vault-lp010126

Another thought I had was seeing if she could login to LastPass or the mobile app via her mobile phone.

Otherwise that is odd. You may want to reach out to the customer support line and submit or open support case at the bottom Contact Support or even reach out to the fellow LastPass community.

I originally had my id active on my own computer and on my wife's computer and we both shared the same lastpass vault based on my name and it worked ok. I found a need to separate our accounts. However, any time I tried to create a new account on my wife's computer in her own, it would always come up with my name or say check your email and there was nothing there. I tried family for a while but that didn't work for me. I dropped out of family and went back to premium on both computers and I finally got my wife's computer set up with a different user name than her own and it's working fine.
On my own computer it's working in a clunky fashion but only under Firefox and not under chrome. It always asks for my user name and password and tells me to check my email and there is nothing there. It also works this way under firefox but if I exit firefox and try again the first try will give me some error but the second click of the lastpass icon will get me in

There's got to be a better way

Security is the protection of information systems from theft or damage to the hardware, the software, and the information on them, as well as from disruption or misdirection of the services they provide. The main goal of security is protecting assets, and an asset is anything of value and worthy of protection. Information Security is a discipline of protecting information assets from threats through safeguards to achieve the objectives of confidentiality, integrity, and availability or CIA for short. On the other hand, disclosure, alteration, and disruption (DAD) compromise the security objectives.
