asked on

fan recommendation

Hi,
I bought a Supermicro X10SVC mini-itx m/b a few months ago and didn't realize this model came in 2 flavors: one with and one w/o a cpu fan.  You guessed it--I got the one w/o.

Under heavier load I'm seeing spikes in the cpu temperature.  Hasn't gone critical but at times is too close for comfort.

Anyone have any recommendations for an aftermarket fan I can position close to the cooling fins?  I can fabricate any kind of bracket to hold it so that isn't a problem.

Thanks!

Do you have any fan headers available?  I can't find that particular motherboard anywhere
you could use a molex-fan converter

Try searching for X10SDV-8C-TLN4F.  Fat fingers.  Sorry.
Yes, I have fan headers available.  Tried buying an OEM one but couldn't justify the 10,000 quantity.

These are tiny SOC cpus.

BTW, this is now the coolest CPU I have in the mix.  Even beats the built-in Intel fans.

intel coolers are barely functional.. AMD OTOH coolers work really well. I usually rip out and replace the stock intel coolers on system build
