Working from home - advice on creating a mobile dual monitor stand?
Hi guys,
Working from home during these times has been challenging and I wondered whether anybody here has got some advice on the components I need for making a moveable dual monitor stand for two 27inch Dell monitors. I don't want to tie down monitors to a desk as I want to sometimes work from the bedroom or the living room and with a laptop, the main thing that will need moving are monitors. I'm trying to find something along these lines but for dual monitors only: https://www.ergotect.com/product/mcart12-three-medical-monitor-cart/ . So I need to find the right components if that makes sense?
Most monitor arms that I see use a vice like mechanism to tighten onto wooden tables. However, if I want them to be on a mobile stand, then I would need them to tighten onto some sort of rail (like the pictures in the link above). I've looked for rails, stands like these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Maclean-MC-793-Keyboard-Adjustable-Workplace/dp/B07GLQ3NBD, but I would then need something like pole mounted monitor arms like these https://www.kaiserkraft.co.uk/pc-furniture/monitor-brackets-tablet-holders/viewlite-monitor-arm/for-rail-systems/p/M1080306/?articleNumber=123383&utm_content=PC-furniture%3EMonitor-brackets,-tablet-holders&utm_term=123383&customerType=B2C&PC=1GOS&storefront=current&gclid=CjwKCAjwuIWHBhBDEiwACXQYsXVDJJneuDZBbZsM2AUfXAnigDOYaojDTj_hdlk7FqHxzO8P4PGXgBoCM5wQAvD_BwE , but the latter is ridiculously expensive and none of these options are doing the job. Does anyone here happen to know or have experienced a similar setup or know the names of components needed to build something similar to the first link?
Thanks for helping

There are so many options, it took me like 2 weeks to research the best setup. About brands and types, they were mostly all provide the same function (so I picked by price and function and not worried about the brand). The trick is your room setup because that limits the movement and space (mostly any stand will do what you need). You want moving monitors? You get a small desk with wheels and you clamp the mount on the small desk so that you can attach your monitors. Something like this - Amazon.com : Mount-It! Mobile Standing Desk with Dual Monitor Mount - 40 Inch Wide Height Adjustable Rolling Computer Workstation with Four Wheels, : Office Products - Good Luck!
I use a sit-to-stand desk currently non-mobile, however, the mobile dual monitor mount on wheels is what I've come across via a search to on Amazon etc. as stated above already is probably what you're looking for, there are probably some other ones out there that aren't as wide or may be sleeker in design. Not 27inch Dell monitors, but I know some have been able to turn their laptop into a multi-monitor setup too or there are portable pop-out extended monitors for laptops too like this below from Best Buy, so its triple or 3 screens total while on-the-go and you could get a smaller portable pop-up laptop tray from Amazon or Etsy has some cool custom or uniquely designed ones or you could get a bamboo foldable desk tray for it possibly or bed-side or couch-side table.

I agree Binh Win, it takes a lot of research. Thanks for responding. I may consider this option, but I also want to see what else can be done with the option I described (i.e. mobile monitor stands) so I can work on various areas of my home.
In addition to what I posted above, there are monitor holders like this, but you have to purchase the mobile cart of course - separate cost addition it appears: https://www.the5sstore.com/item/21meb268/ecocart-dual-post-mount-up/down-monitor-holder/1.html#gref and these other ones https://workplacesolutionsllc.com/mobile-monitor-stands from Workplace Solutions which have a few different options with the keyboard stand too or monitors on both sides it appears.
You may also want to take a look at the Etsy shop iFiveThree's designs:
Otherwise, those are all the ones I could find or think of. I think it's cool that they have a short demo video. It looks like they have limited supply due to the amount of work it takes to craft, I wonder if the shop would be wiling to make a customized one further for what you're seeking or you could potentially try adding onto to the design as well for a larger dual monitor setup for larger monitors on both sides. I have contacted some Etsy shops in the past to inquire about customization etc. some shops are willing to do so, or or others require additional fees or will state in their policies whether or not one can ask or have possible customizations done further on a design, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Hey Jazz - thanks a lot for putting the effort into responding back with the above. I really appreciate it. The Etsy ones are nice, but won't be what I go for. But the ergonomic mobile computer station is very close to what I am looking for :). Albeit, I get a feeling those are used in industry and may likely be high in price. I can enquire to see what they come up with. Thank you for helping out.
My wife got a small sitting/standing desk (it adjusts UP) that is on wheels and has 4 legs (vs a single post) that supports 80 lbs (if memory serves). We then improvised, expanding the desk by about double the width using two 1 foot shelves supported by a larger 2x4 foot 1/4 plywood shelf. Then we use a tri-monitor arm (you could use a dual) and clamped it to the back. The result is a 4 monitor setup (including the laptop) on wheels that can be used as a standing desk (most of the time) or a sitting desk. And can be easily transported around the house.
Total cost, I would say, would be about $220 (the desk was $90 and the shelves were $10/each; I had the tri-monitor arm from quite some time ago).
You would otherwise have to balance out what you want to do. You can spend hours researching options but isn't your time worth something? And you can find dozens if not hundreds of options, but MANY will be well above that $200 threshold. At the end of the day, it really depends on your budget, but I would define a budget based on what you've found so far and then set a time limit for your research/shopping. Then buy the best one you find.
