Need to remove wasted disk space on MacBook

I am not keen on using a remote hard drive, and need to free up space quickly. And I have found I have tons of duplicated images on the drive.

I take pictures and use them in presentations, lots of them. And when I need a pic in a new presentation, I copy the image into a new folder. So, I wonder if there is a way to identify duplicated video and images?

Then, when I see an image used in many places, is there a way to have it saved once, and have the other folder point to the real file?

Thanks

using hardlinks any name can be linked to some storage.
Hardlinks only work on the same disk.  When you're linking across different disks, then you can only use symbolic links.
