550 5.7.1 Remotehost is listed in the following RBL lists

My customer gets a error message after sending a mail to their creditor:
SMTP error from remote server for DATA command, host: mx1.drei-punkt.net (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) reason: 550-5.7.1 This email was rejected because it violates our security policy
550 5.7.1    Remotehost is listed in the following RBL lists: MailSpike

I can't find either the creditor mailserver or our mailserver on blacklist "Mailspike".
My question is now: Is the Remotehost mentioned here our Mailserver or the mail server from the creditor; so you has the problem?

The message is coming from their creditor’s server, indicating that your customer’s server is on mailspike somewhere.

Have you used mxtoolbox to do a blacklist check?
Easy to test + know.

Impossible to guess.

You'll either do your own testing, using many tools... No way to guess which to start with having no IP starting point.

My normal sequence is to check if an IP is on a permanent RBL list (which can never be recovered), the proceed on to multi-RBL test tools.

If you get stumped, you'll provide your IP for testing.

Hi David,
for the first I just wanted to know does this error mean we, the sender, has the problem or the one who receive is. It is hard to tell on the error. If the ones receive it are having the problem I don't have to work on it :-)

I checked the IP of the ones who receive it: (mx1.drei-punkt.net (217.89.32.239))
and ours: mrelayeu.kundenserver.de (mreue108 [213.165.67.113])
I used https://mxtoolbox.com/ and it says both IPs are OK.
