Configuring the device to work on the local network

We have again contacted the IT engineer where we bought the gadget to guide us on how to use it on a multi users  over the LAN (Local area network)and below is the answer which we are not able to understand it, can someone here help us to understand it properly with good examples.

IT Engineer Guide:
To use the device in a multi user mode, the device must be configured as a network device and accessed via the TCP/IP protocol. Serial port com as you are attempting does not support multi-threading.

I'm lost here any help?

Below is the screen of the device which we are trying to configure.

There's no screen shot.  What sort of device is this - make and model?

Step #1: Provide info about the "gadget".

URL to sales page + docs will produce best comments.
Hello There

You obviously connected this device via a serial port which won't work for any remote user. You have to connect it via LAN port. But this is not enough. Apart from this, you have to configure an IP address, a network mask, and a default gateway somewhere in Network configuration.

Exactly this what we are advised

Kindly send us examples of how to do it, you have all the knowledge about this , but we need more guidance on how to go about it.

Here is the gadget screen as per your explanations, I have put the IP address of the gadget as 192.168.8.102, now I'm able to see the gadget in all the computers online. The remaining problem is how send data online from any computer that is what is remaining now and that is where I need guidance.

The screen shoot below is completed automatically including the IP address of the gadget is also picked automatically

Hello There

Well, I do not know this software at all. What is the purpose of this software? Connecting to a hardware device?

ASKER
Okay

the Ms Access Software is required to send the invoice details to this device online for stamping for confirmation that the invoices are approved for tax purpose. That is why we need to have this , below is the manual summary:

6.2 Gadget connection

The ESD device provides ethernet port serial communication ports for data transmission.
ESD provide two connection mode which are Ethernet and serial. For serial connection, two
serial ports include (USB to TTL) and RS232 are supported. The POS system should set the right
port for communication before transaction data transmission. For Ethernet connection, the ESD
must get IP address by assistant tool which provide static IP and DHCP mode.
3G module on the device may also be used for communication with ZRA systemG
et ESD status POS should get tax labels and taxpayers
information from ESD using the Get Status command Then the tax labels can be used for setting tax categories for goods or services in the POS. Get
ESD status command should be executed once the ESD is switched on. This way, the POS is able
to get the basic status of ESD. (lock status, initialized status, etc.)

Hello There

Good, so this part is covered.

Well, if users are supposed to do this action manually, there must be this option in ESD Utility. Go through all tabs or whatever the buttons on the top are, and check if you can find something like that.

If all is supposed to be automatic, then you have tell the application to send the document to the device and you have to configure it somehow.

Anyway, the manual should tell you more information. If not, I would ask the support.
