One thing I should add, is get several USB Disks. The first day you backup to the first disk, when done remove the disk from the PC. The next time you backup, use the 2nd disk & so on.
If you are looking at just backing up data, look at what File History (part of Windows 10) can do.  Keep in mind that it is VERY important that you not keep your backup drive connected all of the time.  It will be vulnerable to ransomware, one of the primary reasons for backups these days.
How much data are you talking about and scope?

Cloud based backup?

What do you have on Hand?

Do you commonly remove or the external USB or is it always connected.
