User cannot log in to Microsoft 365

I have a user who has a username and password to log into the domain. This works fine. The same username and password should (as it does on the other 10 users) log into Microsoft 363. But, it doesn't. It says the password is incorrect.

I guess it doesn't matter, but this is when the windows pops up and you choose your work account, type in your email address, click enter. It takes you to the next screen and you get the password screen. Here is where it doesn't work. There is a reset password, but then it seems she would have two accounts to remember to access email and other things on M365.

open 0365 (or azure) portal and verify the users account is there and is listed as a synced account.

if yes, then have a look in AADConnect and verify there are no errors.

Hello Bert2005

Thank you for your question.

The 1st thing that we need to know is "what's your infrastructure"?

Since the other 10 are working, we will assume the following:
  • You have an Internal Domain controller running a windows server.
  • You have installed Azure AD Connect

And from here the several questions:
  • What's the version of your domain controller (Windows server 2019/2016/2012)
  • What's the version of Azure AD Connect
  • Do you have Azure AD premium licenses? (they're required for the PAssword writeback.

The VMs are running Windows Server 2016 Standard, one being Essentials. I am not sure if I have Azure AD connect. Active Director and domain controller are on Windows Server 2016 Standard. The Hyper-V is 2019.

I have E3 licenses for all the users.

Thank you. I am perfectly fine with trying to find the version and look for Azure AD Connect.
Worked like a charm after a couple of beers! Thanks.
Excellent bert2005 glad to help!
Thank you.
