how to delete a Office 365 account
Hi I'm trying to delete a Microsoft Office 365 account, but cant.
It was created, but the registration records do not point to Microsoft so I can't update it to be a Admin so Microsoft won't let me delete it.
We are trying to move from Network Solutions to Go Daddy, but we can't create that domain account on GoDaddy because it's locked on this account.
Thanks all.

Thanks Saif, no it's not synced and the name servers arent pointed there, it's just a useless account, but it's keeping us from going 365.
Looks like I need to be admin to delete it, and the only way to do that is to transfer name hosting to 365 wich we don't want to do. We already bought the accounts on GoDaddy.

So this is what I did, since there is no support with a free subscription, I logged in using a paid account then opened up a ticket there, somehow that worked.
Shabarinath, the problem is I can't have an admin account since the dns server isn't pointing to microsoft. You are right, once we pointed dns to Microsoft, then they created an admin account, then I could remove the domain, then changed the name servers back. Big pain.
Thanks all.

If yes then simply move the local ad account to a non sync ou and run a delta sync from azure ad connect server.
This will move the O365 mailbox in soft deleted and that will purge as per retention days for mailbox deletion automatically.
If yours is a cloud account just delete user account.
