where are files in OneDrive located when they are deleted - Retention Policy
We have a retention policy that we created in MS 365 that holds the documents of all the users
I notice that our Preservation Hold Library in Sharepoint works whenever a user deletes an item in Sharepoint it goes straight there. However, if a user deletes a file in their OneDrive, where does it exactly go so that we can find it?

It goes into a Preservation Hold Library within their own ODFB site collection. You can access it by means of eDiscovery/Content search or by granting permissions on the ODFB SC itself.

is there an article on how to search it thru content search
Same way you search SPO files - you enter the site collection URL. There's no easy "select user" method, even after years of asking for such. But you can generate a list of ODFB URLs via PowerShell if needed: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/content-search-reference?view=o365-worldwide#searching-onedrive-accounts

Unbelievable that they don't make this an easier process!

Is there a metric in the content search to find deleted items?
You should be able to use the Path keyword to limit the search just to the PreservationHoldLibrary. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/compliance/keyword-queries-and-search-conditions?view=o365-worldwide#searchable-site-properties

That's where this is confusing. What is the location for the preservation Hold library on a one drive account? I don't see it anywhere. is there any documentation?
