Maybe your original ISO image is corrupted?
Did you use RUFUS to download the image?

no
I would either try to download a new image with Rufus, or use the Microsoft download tool to make a new thumb drive to make sure it isn't a bad image...
I made it with Rufus and booting to it but only getting a black screen.

another option is ventoy
it installs a boot loader then you can just copy all of the iso images to the flash drive you want then the boot menu allows you to select which iso to boot

https://www.ventoy.net/en/download.html
is it also possible that the flash drive I am using could be faulty as well ?
that is possible; try a different one or that same one on another system
i suggest to follow MS way :  Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)
I'm beginning to wonder if it could be the ssd? I run the hard drive test on the computer and it passed it though.....
>>  I run the hard drive test    << which one?  for SSD you need the proper diag
the normal hdd test I saw on the screen of the computer...it has system diagnostics and hdd test
someone was telling me I may need to update the firmware on the motherboard??
Can you tell me if the ssd is showing up on Bios ?
User generated imageUser generated image
it appears in the legacy boot menu and there is a boot manager in uefi so it tells me it sees it
you do need to modify the boot order; usb diskette key should be at the top else it will boot from the hard drive hence the black screen
>>  the normal hdd test I saw on the screen of the computer.    << be aware that this tells us nothing
but insyde H2O i think is a bios used by HP  - -  post the model plse
did you try making an usb install stick as i suggested?  no need for rufus
I tried Ubuntu and it worked

then try either the media creation tool or ventoy for the windows iso
Getting this error now. What to do

See if there is a bios update for the laptop. It might not support an SSD at its current level.

even though UBUNTU installed ?
So ubuntu did install? Or just booted?
Did you see the drive in the windows install so you could clear all the pre-existing partitions?

Also ubuntu might have installed under legacy mode where windows tried under UEFI...
What model is the laptop? It might not support windows 10 at all... I saw it originally had 8.1, so it SHOULD be new enough to work, but you never know...

yes I Ubuntu did install on the ssd.

I see their is a bios update but it is a .exe file so I don't think that will help me. I can't even install windows 7.... how to update the bios with .exe ?
make and model of laptop?

hp 15-f039wm
What to do

what are you booting from?
I don't remember that background; looks more like windows 7 installer.
I've only seen windows 10 installation background as solid purple.
make sure you have the correct media

hp 15-f039wm

supports windows 10

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-15-f000-notebook-pc-series/7137590/model/7311084
I'm trying 7 and 10 but both failing. I can't update the bios if it .exe
Do you have another windows system available? Because I believe that exe for the bios installs an app that can help you create other install methods...
yes
I created the usb bios flash drive but have no idea what to do from there. when I plug-in nothing happens
There should be instructions also with the sp

This is what I created. Is this the correct thing ?

I believe that is for recovering a bad flash...
There should be a dos boot or something similar.

https://support.hp.com/ee-en/document/ish_3045244-1633733-16

Near the bottom, the section starting with

"Updating the BIOS manually from a USB flash drive (outside of Windows)"

did you use the download from the list I posted?
this is the direct file

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp92501-93000/sp92739.exe
yes seth.

and Scott my bios is not giving me any option to update it?? I'm not seeing anything like firmware update
Do you still have original drive? does it still have windows on it?

the original drive is no longer working
All I can say is that laptop just might not support THAT SSD under windows...
So there weren't any bios update options in the UEFI boot menu?
Maybe you will have to use a regular hard drive... That Insyde bios doesn't seem to have any install utilities besides windows based.

see option FIVE here :  Boot to Advanced Startup Options in Windows 10 | Tutorials (tenforums.com)
then try cleaning the ssd with Diskpart :   How to create Windows 10 bootable USB with Command Prompt • Pureinfotech
be sure to select the SSD for cleaning !

what about if I remove the ssd and put it in another laptop and try to install windows ?

can that work ?
The date time reflecting 2019 might present an issue for win10.
Likely the laptop drivers are not all available on the installer.

Did the original drive die? Much depends on what you are after.
One option is to clone the recovery partition from the original drive onto the new ssd and use it to reinstall the OS as it came.

Not sure why you use reufios when you can use mediacreator and download windows 10 directly from MS.
the other hard drive is dead
do I need to change the date ?
The date MIGHT be causing an issue...

New errors now. Can’t even clean the disk with diskpart

User generated imageUser generated image
I am going to stick with that laptop doesn't support that SSD under windows...
Unless you can try a bios update you might have to go back to a regular spinning rust drive...
Maybe a Windows PE boot disk might let you install the bios?
Or find a cheap used standard drive to try...
If that installs, at least you can update bios and try again with SSD...
can I update it if I install unbuntu ?
Not clear what the issue is.
select disk 0
list partitions
lets see what it has

During boot, delete all existing partitions on disk 0, 233 GB SSD
and let it try again.

not sure what your install is trying to do, but if it can not partition, either during the process, you mistakenly chosen an existing partition that is too small for the OS install or the remnants of the Ubuntu install is hampering the install...

often after an initial install attempt, there are two/three depending on bios orUEFI install.
the first partition is usually small, 500MB the in uefi the first two are small partition, it is not unherd of that when choosing the destination partition for the OS install in an existing partitioned media, one of the two smaller partitions are selected as they are first, and your next selection might have registered twice unintentionally.
1 thing I forgot to mention.

my cousin who changed the HD, didn't put back the laptop mouse connection properly it seems as the mouse isn't working on the laptop again and we are using an external mouse.

could that play a part in preventing windows from installing ?
No
some posts ago - you were changing the date - i asked why - but got no answer . can you tell me why?
and the SSD is connected internally to the sata port?
in the diskpart screen - can  you type list vol ? and delete all ?

User generated image
the date on the bios was wrong but it correct now.

yes it is connected internally

I will try the delete all and see
I can click delete al. what do I need to do now
>>  the date on the bios was wrong but it correct now.   << then inspect the bios battery - it should read 3V
or replace it - otherwise the problems will return ( recheck the date on the next boot)

if all is ok; try to install again -  or try the clean command again in diskpart

clean is not working
I fixed it. I removed the ssd and installed windows on another computer and then reinstalled back the ssd in the computer and it works
Awesome!!!  Now you have to fix the mouse... ;)

the mouse has been fixed to. it was not connected properly
another issue I have no usb drivers and no internet drivers installed on windows
so I can't even go on the internet or put in a flash drive
Do you have ANY media accessible?
CD drive?
If not, you might have to pull it AGAIN and use another computer to put the drivers on it in a folder... At least network driver...
I have a cd drive
I put windows 7 and on the driver website for the computer it says they have drivers for windows 8.1 and windows 10. would those network drivers work on windows 7?
That is why you have no drivers... The machine isn't supported in windows 7, so no drivers...
You should at a minimum put back windows 8.1 that it came with, then you could always do a free upgrade to 10.

so I tried installing windows 10 but when it reaches 70 percent it just stops and says install windows again....
windows 8.1 successfully installed. trying to do the in place upgrade for windows 10 now
when I do the in place upgrade to 10, I get an error on 74 percent that windows 10 failed to install
Does it freeze, i.e. keyboard num locks/cap locks do not reflect chaoises?

Try using the upgrade assistant to determine whether the system is suitable for the newer version.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/windows-10-update-assistant-3550dfb2-a015-7765-12ea-fba2ac36fb3f

Possibly you need an older version of win10 installed first.

Does your system have an intel storage?

https://download.cnet.com/Windows-10-Media-Creation-Tool/3000-18513_4-77499374.html

If memory serves there was an issue because of driver ..

Update drivers by getting them fromthe vendor tmight also get you over the iasue.

Another option, is reboot and try again.

Make sure you do not choose the update route for the win10 install.
I chose the update route. why shouldn't I try that ?

yes it is intel
At times when it tries to get all updates installed before doing the upgrade, it runs into an issue; speculation, .an update it is applying requires a reboot. prevents going forward.

Since you are doing an upgrade, why do you need to check whether the prior OS windows 8 is up to date. or whether the media you are using to upgrade is either. have not looked too deeply into which OS is being "updated".

Post reboot, Unchecking that option during the OS upgrade process did not run into a similar issue.

The newer Versions since 2004, would kick out the upgrade if intel storage manager was present.
Try and check Intel's site for a newer window8.1 driver for the intel storage manager and see whether that too gets you further along.
