Pam authentication failure in Linux

This is using SuSE Enterprise server 12 with SP4. With sssd, this server also allow MS AD domain user account to log in to the server.

Found these authentication failure in /var/log/messages,

sudo: pam_unix(sudo:auth): authentication failure; logname=hoxxx uid=107865 euid=0 tty=/dev/pts/3 ruser=hoxxx rhost= user=hoxxx

What's went wrong?

Another option can be that the AD cannot be reached.  Also check the SSS logging.
