Word document strange behavior
I need someone to help me please with this strange problem that happened 3 days ago and I been trying to find a solution with no luck. The title is missing of the document also there is a White section toward the bottom when in fact it's supposed to be black as I had chosen for the background. Can you tell me what caused this problem and how can this be fixed? also, wherever I would click on the document the cursor would be on a different line therefor not allowing to add or correct whatever is needed. When I point on the Subtle Emphasis under Styles in the Command and Tabs bar I can see the title showing up until I move the mouse pointer then it disappears. I tried to rename the document and made sure all the Microsoft downloads are UP to Date. Nothing helped.
Thank you,
Basem Khawaja

David,
I did in the post. Although the white section I am referring to is actually yellow. I meant to highlight the text instead I used the fill feature by error. When you look at the screen capture just pretend that there is white color in the bottom section right below the black part of the document.

what version of word are you using?
can you make a copy of your document and replace the text with nonsense text and post it please?

Insert Dummy Text in Microsoft Word
Here's how: Just start a new paragraph in Word, type \=lorem() and hit Enter. For instance, =lorem(2,5) will create 2 paragraphs of Lorem Ipsum text and it will span across 5 lines (or sentences). The parameters are optional.

Hi Paul,
I tried to rename the document and did not have any luck with that. I deleted some parts of the document and still no luck. The strange part it opens normal at times and the other times it displays with problems. The cursor is not where I click on an entry and the title is missing that is.
Finally, I copied the the contents of the problem document and pasted it to a NEW word document and the title showed up and the blank section on the bottom was not there. I am not sure if you are help me with the observations that I just stated.
Thank you Paul,

i don't know - i only solved your problem with Paul's comment
what i am asking you to do is replace the actual text in A COPY of the problem document and upload the copy so that i can open the document and try to solve the problem (click on the Upload File icon just beside the ? in the format menu at the top)
a screenshot is insufficient to get to the bottom of this
but it looks to me like a corrupt document...
try to cut and paste the original text into a new document and repeat the formatting from the original in the new one

I am not able to do that. When I open the document, the cursor is on a different line than where I am trying to click on it.

I am trying to do the best I can Paul. The problem is limiting me from doing what you are asking me for.

I agree. But what caused it to be corrupt so if it was something I did I need to know so that I can prevent it from happening again.
try to cut and paste the original text into a new document and repeat the formatting from the original in the new one.
I did that. Unfortunately, the new document works at times and others display the same issue which is no title and the blank(white) section on the bottom.

open the COPY of the document
CTRL-a selects all to the text regardless of the position of the cursor
type only =lorem()
save the copy
upload the copy to EE

Paul,
I tried what you told me to do and I guess I am not having much luck with it. I will post the corrupted copy. When you point the mouse onto the Intense Emphasis in Styles the " Title shows up". and the white section goes away. When I highlighted it the whole document and then entered =lorem() then enter nothing happened except creating the next line where you continue to type whatever.....
Thank you for trying to help Paul,

Paul,
I did ctrl+A then I deleted everything. I wanted to enter the command that you mentioned +lorem() and enter but nothing happened. The background remained as black as before. If you take a look at this previous post that I replied to nobus based on what he asked then the command works on a new document. Look at it, please Blank Fresh Document.

David,
I only did what was suggested by nobus and Paul. It did work with the = sign. When I just used lorem() with no = sign it did not. See the previous screen capture.
Paul,
"as I mentioned previously, it is next to impossible to solve this problem from just an image!". I did everything that you had asked me to do. I am not quite sure what exactly would you like me to do? I will be happy to do so if I can. Paul
Corrupted Document.docx, Corrupted Document 1.docx, Correct Document .docxI am attaching 2 copies of the word document. One of them is the correct one showing the Title and the black background which is how I wanted things to be (this is the result of cut and paste to a new word document, The other corrupted copy is the original document. I hope this clarifies things for you. One last thing, when I point with the mouse on the styles it shows the title and the white section on the bottom goes away.

let me reiterate how to create a copy of your original document with the text replaced:
STEP 1: open the original document and Save as: COPY.docm
STEP 2: select all the text in the copy by using ctrl-a and press Delete key
STEP 3: type =lorem() and press the Enter key
STEP 4: you should now have a copy of the original document with the text replaced with nonsense text. please save this copy and it load in a new comment here...
sorry if i wasn't clear previously :-(

Paul,
I am not quite sure why aren't you seeing the black background in the 3-word documents that I had sent you because I do from my end. I am not quite sure? If you got the design command then on the far right select page color then the theme colors populate then you will see that I had selected the black color as the background. You can change it to anything else from the palette and it will reflect the change instantly.
Thank you,

Hi Paul,
I appreciate all that you have been doing to help me. I really do and it is not your fault. Too many versions of the software by Microsoft and glitches. I guess I should have gotten used to it by now. I will just let it rest and I will go ahead and close the question. Thank you once again for your perseverance.
