We run QuickBooks 2016, and after server was upgraded to Windows 2019 QB fails
We have had a Windows Server 2016 Essentials for a number of years that is hosting QuickBooks Pro 2016. We needed to upgrade the server to Windows Server 2019 Essentials for another project, and after that was done the QuickBooks DataBase Manger (QBDBM) 2016 would no longer stay running.
We were able to get a copy of QBDBM 2019 installed an running, but we get an H202 error when we try to get into Multi-user mode. We have run the standard processes to overcome that issue, but we still get the same error. Should QBDBM 2019 run on Windows 2019 Essentials? If so, maybe we fix this. If not, should QBDBM 2019 be able to host a QuickBooks Pro 2016 file?
Did you add quickbook to the Windows firewall incoming rule to allow external system to communicate with the qb db manager?
This how multi-user functions, the bdb mgr is the arbitrator.
Qb db manager will crash if the access to a vommands file is made by a version that is not installed on the server.
If you have company gives in qb2016 and qb2019
You have to install both qb2016 and qb2019 engines.
The server where company gives are accessed from, must ave all the versions.
You can also configure revovery settings on the qb db monitoring services to restart after a minute post crash of service.

In the end we did a restore of the server to an earlier copy of the system drive and it had no data we needed to keep. That seems to have fixed the problem. It does have the October updates, but is still working fine. I very much appreciated the link to known issues with the October update, and also the clarification that one must have the QBDBM for each active year as I wasn't 100% sure of this. I thought it might be backward compatible.
