asked on

WiFi access point recommendations.

Can anyone recommend a great access point that will delivery high speeds at a good value.  I have been using Unifi but I believe the speeds within the network are not very fast when I perform a speedtest versus when I am plugged into an Ethernet cable.

The offices I support have anywhere from three to eight access points.

This probably isn't down to the AP itself, unless it's an older WiFi4 model.

Usually wireless won't compare to wired anyway, but if your speeds are particularly bad you should perform a RF survey first, to determine whether it's just something like interference or coverage holes, for example.

Remember that Wireless Connection speeds depend on many things. For example if there are walls in between, or also if one device connects at a low speed, the others will also be pulled down etc. Just buying a faster AP won't really help in such situations, the overall environment is very important.

Any good references on how to perform an RF survey?

I'd suggest getting someone who is experienced in to survey.
