Excel 365 - change default template

Hi Experts

I would like to set a custom default template for Excel 365, or modify the existing one.

I have created the template, and applied our corporate theme to it for colors and fonts.

I then saved it in C:\Users\ArchieD\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART with the name of Book.xltx.

I re-started Excel but this template is not picked up whether I press ESC or click 'Blank workbook'. (I also tried saving it in the 'Custom Office Templates' location.)

I am obviously doing something wrong but can you tell me what it is, please?

Many thanks in advance.

Have you checked the StartupPath for your installation of Excel?

You can do that by in Excel opening the VBE (ALT+F11), opening the Immediate Window (CTRL+G) and entering this.
? Application.StartupPath

That should give you the path to the folder you should put the default template in.

P.S. When I try it I get something very similar to what you posted, so you might be putting the file in the right place and the problem lies somewhere else.

Thank you, byundt. I did not have a chance to try this out in the last few days but I will do so today or tomorrow. This sounds to be the answer from what I have seen so far.
