Need popup eliminator software recommendation

All off a sudden I am being flooded with popups. They seem very invasive. Some are actually preventing me from performing password resets. Please give me some advice on what is the best tool, free or pay to eliminate them. Windows 10 desktop

Hi Need-a-Clue,

In the future choose the topic category Advice for these types of post for software recommendations, you have accidentally marked this a Troubleshooting Question, but that's totally okay just helps when searching for a question or a  subject type or a troubleshooting question could be How do I remove or prevent unwanted Windows 10 pop-ups flooding my screen? Then provide an example screenshot of the pop-up faced.

I am adding Software as a topic tag and Windows 10 for now.

Do you have an example you can share of what pop-ups you're encountering from W10? There is a feature that contributes to pop-ups called 'News & Interests" or sometimes "Feeds" you may be referring to. It does depend upon your version or build of W10.

Otherwise, are you referring to a pop-up from your web browser? An extension like AdBlock Plus may suffice.

If they are as intrusive as you describe, I'd suspect you have already been infected by something & you should clean your PC. The best way to do that is to make a last backup of all your important data, then download the Latest Windoze from the M$ site, install that from scratch...
rindi makes a good point above, it could potentially be a result of a virus or malware if you're seeing aggressive pop-ups preventing you from performing tasks. Ensure you run a full advanced offline antivirus scan first. We don't really know yet if it is a virus truly. I would refrain from doing "password resets" from this system until you verify it is not malware. It is typically a good idea to have a password manager system also with 2FA enabled, of course, no password manager or antivirus software is 100% invincible.

What do you use for antivirus software? W10 Defender, Malwarebytes. My go-to first would be a full advanced offline scan of W10 Defender > then Malwarebytes.

Have you installed anything recently....

It is hard to tell if you're referring to an advertisement from your browser such as Chrome or W10 'News & Interests' though. First, eliminate the likelihood of an infection. Usually, if all else fails you have to resort to a clean install as a final precaution as stated above to ensure all traces were eliminated of the suspected virus/attack.

you don't mention which browser you're using - most browsers (i use Edge, Firefox & Chrome regularly) have built-in popup blocking directly in the Settings. check your browser settings to see if they have been changed.

perhaps you could close the question & ask again when appropriate, unless you have access to their device.

Hello Experts. I have just returned from an unexpected stay in hospital of several days. A trusted person has evidently with your assistance fixed the problem. I am not sure about the chain of actions that was taken. I do know that Malwarebytes was purchased and McAfee Total Protection  was used. I am sorry that I was not able to attend to this question.

Software

Software is any set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific tasks or operations. Computer software consists of programs, libraries and related non-executable data (such as documentation). Computer software is non-tangible, contrasted with computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers. Software written in a machine language is known as "machine code". However, in practice, software is usually written in high-level programming languages than machine language. High-level languages are translated into machine language using a compiler or interpreter or a combination of the two.
