Need help establishing a simple network from home using TP Link

hi experts,

I need help - basically I want to establish a small home network in another house.

I have two routers. One router is the ADSL. The other router is a TP-Link (in another house). The ADSL modem/router is connected directly to the TP-Link via Ethernet cable from one of the 4 ports at the back of the ADSL modem router.

I want to establish a wifi in the TP-Link modem router in my house. Please can you tell me what is the cofigurations on my TP-Link modem router. Is it Bridge?

Does the TP-Link automatically connected live to the internet once it connect to the ADSL Modem router or do I have to configure the TP-Link router and what configuration within the router?

Please let me know if you can advise the configurations settings within the TP-Link modem router?

Thanks experts.

Your router (pictured above) looks to be an ADSL router? If so it probably does not have an RJ45 Connector as a WAN port? it should have 4 LAN ports on it though so it should function as a switch, (for wired connections). To be honest you're better of buying a cheap gigabit 4 port switch from eBay, and a wireless access point.

</P>
If you have connected the routers directly via Ethernet, just make sure the TP-Link router is connected via a LAN, & not the External port. Disable DHCP on that router, so that only the first router acts as DHCP server.

You don't need to think of modes like Bridge etc, that is only for Routers connected to each other via WLan, & not via Cable.

Okay sorry i forgot to mention that my tplinkmodem router is connectedto the switch (switch is connected directly to the modem adsl already

thanks Rindi so tp link should receive the connection right away and what about the wifi setup on the tp link should i set up too so my devices can access as well or not?

Just set it up as Access Point, if the Software has that option available. Use a strong WPA2 passphrase. If the other ADSL modem also has a Wireless option, just ignore that, & use another name for your TP-Link WLan.
Okay so the tp link modem router should get its ip address automatically assigned once the cable is connected to it from the  modem router?
Then i configure only the wlan within the tp link and thats all?

thats should be it right?

i am going to set it up in the next hour so if i have any issues i will let you know okay
Yes. There should only be one DHCP server in a LAN, otherwise you can get IP conflicts.
thank you so much rindi it works now...so only bridges to connect two routers wirelessly right
it works out well thank you so nuch so only brodges to connect two routers via wirelessly right
Yes, Bridges are used to connect Wireles AP's together. But if you can do that with Ethernet cables it is more stable & faster, & you don't have the interference.
