ASDM for CISCO 5512 is no longer working

My ASDM launcher will no longer connect to my cisco ASA 5512- unable to launch device manager from 10.x.x.x

when I  open putty to try and ssh into it closes automatically when I try to connect

I can telnet in and I have looked at the config and it appears that both SSH and HTTP are enabled

both ssh and ASDM were working previously for like 5 years- just started getting this error

tried installing ASDM on a different server- it lets me log in and download the ASDM launcher and install it but still will not let me connect- I rebooted the ASA and still no go.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am not a firewall or switch guy so I have limited skills and understanding of CLI but I can follow directions pretty well

Java? What version do you have installed, ASDM access problems (assuming it's setup correctly) are usually Java related.

So it has been working for 5 treats - I tried installing on a different computer - it logged in and downloaded / installed with no problems - get same error. Both computers have current version of Java - I think it’s 301
