Windows 10 Pro Microsoft Photos not working properly - file system error
When running Windows 10 Professional x64 20H2 or 21H1, Microsoft Photos is giving file system error when opening a jpeg or jpg file extension. We use desktop folder redirection with two DFS servers.
We have read that a Windows update causes this issue. Is this true?
What are some suggestions you may have?
have you tried fixing the Photos app via:
Settings ―> Apps ―> Apps & Features ―> click on Microsoft Photos (from the list of apps) ―> Advanced options
now you can select Repair and/or Reset

The issue seems to be coming from a task to delete the user profile. This seems to break apps from the app store.

Are there pending updates presently, I would verify whether or not all updates are completed or if you're behind of any?
I know some individual users or EE members reported were getting too many issues/errors now and then with Microsoft Photos so alternative apps do exist to it, or sometimes you are able to reset Photos or reinstall it via a command, not remove nor address it through the control panel.
Sometimes sfc /scannow helps from an elevated command prompt and DISM, though be cautious with repair commands they can hiccup and ideally have to restore points made, or at times a user profile may have faced damage contributing to it.
