Sorry stupid question probably. If not configured just means on. Why not just have just on or off. Why have not configured&nbsp; as an option?

Nothing is open by default.<br />
All incoming connections are blocked unless an exception is set. If you allow people to use remote desktop, a port exception is added automatically. If you turn on file and printer sharing, the SMB port exception is set automatically.<br />
Some exceptions will be set automatically by the software that listens on a certain port, while other software won't add an exception automatically.<br />
