Why Windows not able to bootup? What files are affected?

This is using MS Windows XP 32-bit system. This system cannot be booting. When booting, the startup stops at a stage with the following errors,

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupted:

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-Rom.

Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

How to do the repair to get Windows to boot successfully?

Thanks in advance.

Windoze XP has not been supported by M$ for many Years now. Keeping on using it is a big security risk, & as it is no longer working it is a perfect time to move on. It makes no sense to try to fix this, it is a waste of time, & for such an old system it is also very likely that your HD is failing (that would be a likely cause for your problem.

It is also unlikely that your PC will not support running an m$ OS like Windoze 10, it is probably too old, & the cost of buying the new OS also doesn't make sense.

I'd suggest getting a more modern PC, or if you want to keep on using it, install Linux, which should be compatible (but you will still probably have to replace the HD). Most Linux Distro's are free...
