What tool are you using to create an image and deploy this image on PCs of different models?

Hi, IT admins!

Here is the question: What tool are you using to create an image and deploy this image on PCs of different models? And, is there anything I should be aware of when using the tool?

Here is the scenario: Our PCs are mainly Dell OptiPlex including 7010, 7020, 9020, 3020, 7040, etc. We also have a few HP PCs.

Our PCs are running Win10 x86. Now we need to deploy Win10 x64 on them. To make the job easier, I am considering creating a general/system image covering Win10 x64 and some standard apps, then deploying this image to all the PCs.

Any thoughts and comments would be helpful and appreciated!

Thank you!

I build a generic image in a virtual machine, do not register it...
Add the software you want.
Then when done I sysprep with the "generalize" option.
Then I image with our old reliable Norton Ghost I have in a WINPE bootable image...

Old school, but it works...

Thanks Scott for this info!
You said "do not register it" - do you mean "do not activate the OS Windows 10 on the VM"?

I looked at that toolkit, but usually don't do more than 8 to 15 PC's a year most of the time...
is there a YouTube video someone can follow to learn how to do this ? this sounds very complex
to do what?
Here are several videos about windows capturing an image

to learn how to easily deploy an application to multiple computers eg autocad etc
each application is different.
you have to find the silent installation details i.e. setup.exe /silent
abcde.msi /q
setup /config:config.ini /silent

ok but can you have a simple home network or do you need to have servers and stuff ?!"
for autocad
  1. Navigate to the C:\Downloads folder
  2. Enter the following command to Extract the contents of the EXE:
    • AutoCAD_2021_English_Win_64bit_dlm.sfx.exe -suppresslaunch -d "C:\Downloads"
  3. Press Enter
  4. Navigate to C:\Downloads\AutoCAD_2021_English_Win_64bit_dlm
  5. Enter the following command: Setup.exe /W /Q /I .\setup.ini
  6. Press Enter

a simple home network is sufficient. 2 computers needed.. a technician computer and a client computer

okay and what does the technician computer need to make this happen ?
If you have a simple home network you really don't need all these deployment tools unless you are building a lab for learning...
In that case I would look on EBay for a used server with decent ram and storage and virtualize a test lab network...

the home network is to practice on so I can do it in school
