Likely S3 completely disables the execute bit on files, so you can never execute any file... ever...<br />
<br />
If you could execute files off S3, this would produce a complex security problem, where S3 could be hacked + any executable overwritten by Malware... then next time overwritten executable was run, machine(s) would be hacked.<br />
<br />
At least allowing random S3 files to ever execute seems like a security hole.<br />
<br />
Scanning many other... similar questions... this seems like a design feature of S3...<br />
<br />
