How can I speed up or improve data transfer from on-prem file server to an Azure Cloud VM

Migrate file server data to an Azure VM is taking long over a site-to-site sonicwall VPN.

You could use QoS to prioritize traffic, how much bandwidth is allocated to the VPN versus others?
What is you upload/download speed on the connection and what is allocated on the Azure Side

are you using DFS-Replication to handle this?
if so, how much bandwidth is configured for this ?

note over allocating bandwidth to this could cause issues ..

What is your time table?
what are you using to tranfser the files.

You could prestage, backup. transfer the backup, restore on the Azure side.
establish teh DFS-r replication... if that is the intent and let it go through the proces. Make sure to use the on-prems as the reference server.

I started to use Azure File storage to copy to a fileshare and that seems to have increased performance.  I was using a simply copy process, and also tried with teracopy over a VPN.
