hotplug sata disk
i have a h97m-plus mobo with an NVMe boot drive C:
the problem i have is when i hotplug a sata drive - it is not recognised - until reboot
hotplug is enabled for all sata ports
how to get hotplug working ?

is the drive in a hot plug caddy?
if you change drives and go into diskmgmt.msc is the new driver there but offline?

The mobo manual calls it hot-plug but Intel RST manual says hot-swap. Is the disk part of an array? Is the RST software installed since it won't initiate a rebuild without it.

scott - i always saw the disks without scanning before - but i'll try it
David - no caddy simple sata connection and in disk management the disk does not show either

to be clear i have the mobo lying on my bench and connect like that very easily

Windows won't auto detect hot swap drive changes like some other OS's will unless it is a known removable drive which usually is over USB... Other drives can be forced to be detectable that way, but you would have to search that out.
