asked on

Network type and computer name in conflict?

I have a computer that has come up with several annoyances. The most recent being not able to add a program to the firewall exception. The computer name says it is a WORKGROUP computer but Network and Sharing says the type is a domain. That is a contradiction isn't it? At one time it was part of a domain but no more. It shouldn't be type "Domain" should it?

That was the reason for the question. So how do you get the network type back to public/private? I have already con through the network ID twice.

That was it with a note. Had to change the type via the registry to "Private" then I could add the exception to the firewall. Thanks Gents.
