I’m trying to get a network administrators perspective on versions when it comes to Windows 10 installed on end user devices such as laptops. Specifically, is there any particular reason why your IT section would still be using version 20H2, and using that version on new devices they issue to your users, as opposed to version 21H1. Or what are the benefits in ensuring all new devices and existing devices are upgraded to 21H1?
If you are still using 20H2 on existing and new devices you build and issue to users, at what point do you intend on issuing new devices/upgrading existing to version 21H1, and why at that particular point? Are there key dates to look out for? On older versions of Windows and Microsoft server line of applications, you would always want to ensure you are running a supported version, which often required application of a specific service pack. So the driver for upgrading the version of the OS on end user equipment was often 'security'. I am not sure if the support model has changed in anyway with Windows 10 though, and the exact implications of this ‘Semi-Annual Channel’ on upgrade pressures.
Another thing I was interested in from a support perspective, is do you have a combination of devices running both 20H2 and 21H1 in your environment, and if so what support challenges does that present?
