IPadOS 15.0.2 (675.5 MB) downloaded fails
IPadOS 15.0.1 & 15.0.2 (675.5 MB) downloaded and ALWAYS fails “unable to check for software update OR/and after install starts hours installing and verification of update fails. Disabled security, Deleted downloaded update many times. Tried also attached to MAC. ITunes no option. Version 15 installed.
This is an iPad Pro second generation model MPLL2LL/A 12.9 inch.
Must I reset it and start over having backed it up to the cloud?

Issue remains unresolved. Installing fails. Checking for updates after issuing Install Now for hours then fails. With or without security active.
There are some reports out there that installing of that update has an issue with some iPad Pro models.
Suggestions I've found are to try these:
- Disable passcode
- Set Auto Lock to 'Never'
- Remove the Sim card tray *
- Install a Sim card *
* Only if your model has one of course.

The only thing not yet tried is SIM card issue. Will return to update. Thank you. 15.0.1 as well as 15.0.2 have consistently failed to update from 15 on this 2nd generation iPad pro. The worst Apple iOS update ever!
Must say this is the first time that I hear of any update going wrong consistently on an iOS device.
I'm waiting a bit before upgrading my iOS devices to 15.x - hope this workaround solves it for you.

All iPhones and current version iPhones and iPads upgraded to 15.0.2 flawlessly. The only problems consistently, employing all workarounds and options including using MAC to update is with this 2nd generation iPad Pro. NIGHTMARE waste of time. There is a SIM slot; carrier and network in ‘about’ as unknown. Thus removing SIM card may be irrelevant, no? Cell carrier is Sprint-T-Mobile joined. Despite that, Network and Wi-Fi fine. It’s illogical.

Whether connected to a MacBook Pro, PC or directly with Wi-Fi the second generation MacBook iPad Pro will not update version 15.0.2.

I'm keeping ipad at Version 15 and restoring all security. Clearly the updates do not apply here, and what I just read, which follows makes further efforts futile now.

SUCCESS! Deleted Downloaded update,
Turned off firewall and Security, restarted, connected to MacBook, having previously backed it up to iCloud I then RESTORED
It and the restore process did the iOS update prior to restoring all of my applications. It finally worked and is stable and functioning in the 15.0.2 update environment
