Azure DevOps – how to sign up for Basic access

Hi Experts,

I want to add a developer to our Azure DevOps projects and I am wanting to do this the most economical route.

Looking at this page: Azure DevOps - About access levels

Under the section, Supported access levels, the Basic access level is defined:

"Basic: Provides access to most features. Assign to users with a Visual Studio Professional subscription, an Azure DevOps Server CAL, and to users for whom you're paying for Basic access in an organization."

My question is:  how do I sign up for Basic access?

Regards,
Leigh

From here: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/pricing/details/devops/azure-devops-services/
Please note that up to 5 users, Basic access is free with 2GiB limit.

Hi Chinmay,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I have already gone down the path of Basic Plan  / Start Free.

Here's the screen I have:

User generated image
(1) is the new Plan, "mincaddevel".
but my current projects are on another Plan (2), "leighwardle".

The list you are showing is not Plan, that's an organization.

Click on the organization on which you want to add users after that click on Users:

Now you can add users and configure their access levels as well.

Hi Chinmay,
User generated imageI cannot edit any properties of the new user, with access level = Stakeholder.

Looking at the Billing section, there is a message:

Billing has not been set up for this organization. Access will be available up to free tier limits.

How do I set up Billing?

Regards,
Leigh

Hi Chinmay,

I got a notification that you had commented, but I cannot see anything.

Sorry that was a mistake from my side so I deleted that one.
Hi Chinmay,

I was logged in as a user that was not an Administrator.

When I logged in as an Administrator, I could see the button called Set up Billing.

I could then change the new user access level to Basic.

Everything works now!

Leigh
Glad I could help.
