Steps to use Mail Merge with file attachment

I need to send the same email that contains a file attachment to over 8500 email addresses that are contained within an Excel spreadsheet.

What are the steps to use the mail merge feature within Microsoft Word or Outlook so I can do this? I need to send this email out with a file attachment.
