TPM 1.2 = cannot install Windows 11 : ( -- work-arounds?

I was going to install Windows 11 and it says I don't have TPM 2.0, which is true.  I have TPM 1.2.


Bummer.


Is TPM a physical chip on my motherboard?  If I open up my computer case, how can I tell which chip is the TPM chip, and how do I tell if it is swappable / upgradeable.


Are there TPM chips that can be upgraded via software?


Can TPM be emulated, or will Windows 11 only accept a physical chip with TPM 2.0?

TPM is a chip on your mainboard, but some manufacturers have firmware upgrades to lift it to TPM 2.0, for example Dell has some Models where this can work. But TPM 2.0 isn't the only roadblock to install Windoze 11. You also need a relatively new CPU. Below is a list:
