Have you updated Win 10 since the ADK was installed? There's a known bug affecting Casper and windows file permissions that presents as a "file not found" error.

Are you setting the location as
C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Assessment Toolkit\x86
(Casper is looking for the .exe)
Your help has saved me hundreds of hours of internet surfing.

David - that's what i tried - but i did not find how - it's too intuitive for me
plse post exact steps for downloading the needed soft

The separate WinPE file for current Win 10 versions is here:
https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=2120253

Run the setup and it will add the WinPE files to your existing ADK installation (credit to David here as I didn't know M$ had split this into two separate products)

The Kit will be installed to C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment

But it's likely that Caspar's default path will now find it.

which will download adksetup
run it and install the pe tools.

Download the .exe as David describes and it will detect and add the WinPE tools to your existing ADK installation.

In File Explorer go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Assessment and Deployment Kit\Windows Preinstallation Environment

And then browse to the WinPE .exe you need

Then try adding that path to Caspar when it asks.

Hi nobus,

Casper 8 is old. It came out to support Windows 8. Then Casper 10 came out to support Windows 10. Now Casper 11 is out to support Windows 11. FSS doesn't have older versions at their site to download, so you can't try Casper 10 (I know you're on W10), but I suggest trying Casper 11 (the website says that it is a fully functional trial, although the trial, in the past, did not allow creating a startup disk, so this may or may not work).

Btw, I've had very good results during many years with FSS technical support. This may (or may not) be a bug in Casper 8 or an incompatibility between Casper 8 and W10. In any case, you may submit a ticket here:

Hi nobus,

I've been using Casper for around 12 years...every version from 6 through 10 (haven't gone to 11 yet). I've made a Startup disk with every new version and don't recollect ever having this problem...I certainly did not have the problem with Casper 8 or Casper 10. So, I can't help you from personal experience, but I have two suggestions for you:

(1) As I mentioned earlier, I've had excellent results with FSS technical support:

https://support.fssdev.com/Main/frmNewTicket.aspx

(2) This FSS Knowledge Base article may help:
