Is TLS 1.x Enabled by default on Windows Server 2012/2016/2019?
Hello,
Is TLS 1.x enabled by default in Windows Server 2012/2016/2019?
If enabled, please explain how do we usually check for that?
I know that we can do that with tools like IIS Crypto but I need to check that either from the command line or from the registry.
If not enabled. Please explain how could we enable and test it?
Thanks
have a look at Qualys SSL Labs
Considering how the latest version of TLS is 1.3, and the earliest is 1.0, I would say that yes, TLS 1.x is enabled by default.
To Eric's point, which aspect of the validation are you interested in:
IIS crypto deals with server side settings.
Are you in need of confirming a client side (when users on the server accessing external resources, RDS system)
you could use powershell to pull registry information
it might be helpful if you describe what the task is beyond checking, if enabled, do you need it disabled? if disabled, do you need it enabled?

Yes please, I am only trying to confirm if TLS 1.2 is already enabled with a fresh installation of Windows server 2012/2016/2019 out of the box?
If not enabled then I need to know how to enable it
Thanks
