Cannot get into locked Windows 10 system

A customer got his HP laptop with Windows 10 stuck on an update and now it goes into Automatic Repair; resetting the PC is not an option at this point but I could try other things (uninstall updates, etc) but when I pick that option, it comes up with a username/password and for whatever reason, the password they used isnt working.  I have a password reset disk but cannot get it to boot from CD - any suggestions?

No, its a company account
is it possible to mistype the password ? eg  O vs 0
I have tried every variation, caps, no caps, letters, etc etc
Have you thought of different keyboard layouts? Often the layout set for the keyboard gets active after login, while at the login screen it is different.

A further problem could be if it was attached to an M$ Domain, you would probably also have to use the format DOMAIN/UserName.

Or the Account info & password is for a non Admin User, & you need to use the Admin's account to login.
Yes I agree with Rindi, I would log in locally with the admin credentials, and once the operating system is repaired have the user login with his/her domain user name and password.  It is important here that the local admin user name and password is used as that user has the highest privledges for making system changes.

If the user is having difficulty logging in check to see if the pc is locally joined or if it is already on the domain, the login screen should indicate if it is already on the domain or if is local. If it is local you need to add the domain name before the user name..... Domain name/UserName... otherwise if the computer is setup locally it may try to create a new user name locally, and the user will end up having to user profiles on the computer the local user and a domain user profile.
