Can we simply change the name of a Windows DC back to it original name in Active Directory after an accidental change?

The name of one of our Windows 2019 Domain Controller accidentally had its name changed in Active Directory. It appears that the DC's name was not changed locally, only in the AD Database.

When trying to log into the server this causes a Trust Relationship error.

Can we simply change the name of the DC back to it original name in Active Directory?

As there is no telling what else cascaded down from this particular problem, I would personally be inclined to do a full restore from the most recent full backup made before the issue occurred.
