What is spoofing and is it involved with this issue?

I glanced at my partial phone bill for November. The text are free but there were 4 text sent from my phone today to a known friend's number. I only sent 1 text.

November 24 shows I sent 10 text to the same number in a span of 1.5 minutes. No way.

The October bill has over 50 (on one page) to the same number between October 24 and November 3.

November 3 shows I sent 3 text at exactly 5:44 am. Impossible (?)

The cell phone carrier said get a new number or a new sim card.

Too many real people and businesses have my number so that is no option.

I may lose some data with a new sim card.

The friend has a contact list of several people and they text all the time. Could my number be getting into the messages those people send back and forth to each other?

When they send me a text I only see their number. No one else has access to this phone.

Thanks.

Could the cloner be the person who owns the number that is seen as having sent and received all these text?

Such that they have had access to reading text from me to and from whoever? Nothing in there confidential though.

(I'm asking that person to access their phone bills last 1.5 months to see if they have received all these text that my phone number shows as having been sent to them)
is it a shared phone plan? with the same number?

Not shared with anyone (my phone) and 95% of the time it is left at home and another phone is used when not home.
