Connect SonicWall to Spectrum environment issues.

Trying to set up a SonicWall in a Spectrum environment.

COAX feeds to Spectrum modem and Ethernet runs from the modem to the Spectrum router WAN port.

An Ethernet runs from Spectrum router LAN (one of four) into a Linksys E1200 router WAN port and all works well (can't get into the Linksys router... don't know the password).

If I disconnect from the E1200 WAN and plug into SonicWall WAN I get a 192 address and cannot hit the Internet.

Thoughts?

You likely need to configure the WAN port IP address on the sonicwall to be on the same subnet as the spectrum modem.
You may have a static IP address that is assigned in the linksys router (assigned by spectrum) or if the spectrum modem is configured with DHCP it may be able to hand your device an IP. (depends on the configuration)
If the Sonicwall device is replacing the linksys router then you would probably want to use the same external IP address. If this is setting up another path (be careful not to create a loop) then you will need to have another IP to assign it.
If the Spectrum modem is setup for DHCP then you would need to change the settings in the sonic wall on the wan port to dhcp assigned so that it gets an address from the modem.

Robert, the Spectrum router does give me a 192.168.1.4 address on the WAN port if I set it to DHCP...

Do you think it will supply Internet access via a 192 address?
