What I'm most concerned about is that this Dell PowerEdge R730xd server might have older CPUs or an older chipset that won't be fully compatible with Server 2022.

I have already tried to install Windows 11 as a Hyper-V VM on this Dell PowerEdge R730xd and haven't been able to do so since this server doesn't have the latest Intel CPUs that are required for Windows 11 to be installed which is what leads me to believe that this sever also might not be able to install or run Server 2022.

How can I get a definite answer as to whether or not this Dell PowerEdge R730xd server will be able to install and run Server 2022? I have included this server's Service Tag in this question's posting.

This Dell PowerEdge R730xd server is used in my test lab environment and I need to start learning Server 2022 as soon as it becomes available.

I'm hoping that this Dell PowerEdge R730xd server will be able to run Server 2022 without me having to purchase a new server.
Aren't Dell 13th generation servers still supported?

Most servers don't have TPM. TPM is optional. At any rate, I would install a hypervisor and learn 2022 on VMs.
What I'm most concerned about is that this Dell PowerEdge R730xd server might have older CPUs or an older chipset that won't be fully compatible with Server 2022.

I just installed 2022 eval on an older dell desktop with a cpu from early 2014 to test with and runs fine so I don't see any issues with the 730 (which has a cpu from either 2015 or 2016 depending on if it is v3 or v4)

This Dell PowerEdge R730xd server is running Server 2019.

What are the steps to enable TPM in Security?
Just add Hyper-V role to the existing 2019 server and then load Windows 2022 into VMs. Easy.

"What are the steps to enable TPM in Security? "
Once you have created the VM, click on it, click on Settings.
Click on Security (left column), check Enable Secure Boot and Enable Trusted Platform Module.

just for a lab and learning, I would not bother with TPM!

It can be disabled for deployment purposes.

CPU should not be an issue with 2022, if it becomes and issue change the server.

Excellent resource @arnold.

If there is no TPM or a TPM v1.2 installed and a TPM v2 is purchased then installed a full firmware update would be required to rework things for the newly installed TPM v2.
TPM 1.2 is updateable to 2.0 in the R730

At time of manufacture TPM V2 was not invented!

We’ve just done ours a few months ago!

BUT make sure if purchasing from other suppliers as DELL direct may not have stocks that they’ve never been used or removed from a server because the pairing is a one time process!

And there are many used cheaply available which are useless!

CompProbSolv,

Thank you for the hint about Windows 11.

As soon as I assigned two processors to Windows 11 I was able to install it as a Hyper-V VM and it is now running perfectly on my Server 2019 Hyper-V Base server.
