ASP.net reference Sharepoint in SQL

Hi

Can Sharepoint be used in an ASP.net Core web solution as a way to store documents that can then be accessed on a web page which loads data from a SQL table. I don't know Sharepoint so I would imagine that some sort of Sharepoint reference or link could be stored in the SQL database.
