How to upgrade Lenovo from Win10 Home to Win10 Pro...

Trying to update a Lenovo Legion 5 laptop from Home to Pro. Went to the the MS store on the laptop, paid the $99 to upgrade to Pro, goes through the preparing for upgrade screen says it has download (100%), then get this error "Windows upgrade failed Error Code:0x80070490" on the preparing to upgrade screen.

I close that screen:

On the windows activation screen i get Error Code: 0xC004F034

I have also tried wiping both the drives and did fresh installs of Win10 Pro from a USB but it always comes back Win 10 Home,

Sounds like Win 10 Home is embeded but going to the store and buying the upgrade should have worked as it is a digital license also.

At a loss at the moment...

How to get past this promlem, I have four of these laptops to do...

Thanks

that is to be expected; a home product key is in the system so windows detects it and activates that
did you try the upgrade after reinstalling?  can't fix the initial issue since you already reinstalled

arnold

open elevated command  window

use
dism /online /get-currentversion
dism /online /get-targeteditions
you should see Pro as a possible option.

Note you need to purchase an upgrade or have a product key

dism /online /set-edition:Professional /accepteula /productkey:"product key to authorize windows 10 pro upgrade"

or something like, that I think you can use teh windows +I to get a different version If not mistaken it will take you to MS to pay for the upgrade at the conclusion of which the system should upgrade.

Have you tried to uninstall the bundled antivirus software.

Restart your notebook and try the in-place upgrade again.
