Novell Edirectory migration to Active Directory/Azure AD

Hello Experts,

One of my customers is looking to migrate Novell edirectory to Azure cloud. My understanding is there is no direct migration path for this, and the only solution possible is to migrate from edirectory to Active Directory, and from there either establish a hybrid organization with Azure AD or perform a full migration to Azure cloud.

Is that assumption correct?

Can someone please provide high level steps to migrate from eDirectory to Active directory latest version?

Your thoughts would be appreciated
