Help configurations on deciding on a new laptop purchase
Hi Experts!
I have gather info on a new notebook and got good configuration (the below I gather ir from https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/ConfigureView?langId=-1&storeId=10151&catalogId=10051&catEntryId=3074457345620138318&urlLangId=&quantity=1&color=natural+silver): around $1,909.99 pricy
My questions is around the display & storage; what I have found up to now is that on OLED display it seems faster & crisper than LED and as for storage, PCI SSD is faster than SATA SSD. There was a lot more tech info on these 2 areas.
Based on the above, my questions is to buy a notebook similar to this configuration, so:
- Beside HPx360 above, u guys know of another brand maybe better or less cost similar configuration?
- Finally, though the OLE display and PCI SSD seems faster, u guys think that there is actually a difference in speed between LED/SATA for a notebook?
Thanx in advance

What's MORE IMPORTANT, IMHO, is the usability for YOU. Look at the keyboard layout. Do you like it? Do you find you use the PgUp, PgDn, Home, End keys regularly? If so, getting a laptop that forces you to press FN to access that functionality is going to be a HUGE irritation! How are your eyes? Good? Or is your vision not the greatest? While scaling has gotten much better these days, higher resolutions can still result in older programs looking HORRIBLY SMALL.
If you're looking for alternate devices, I would check the usual suspects; NewEgg, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus and see what they have that you like. Ideally, as I recommend to most folks, you'll go to a local store like Micro Center or Worst Buy (sorry, Best Buy, I keep getting the name mixed up) and actually LOOK at what you're buying. Shipping returns are often possible, but, at least for me, a huge irritation to deal with. At least pick one sold at a store and then order online if you must, at least that way you have a more solid feel for what you're getting.
Lastly, not sure what you mean "LED/SATA" - LED is a type of display. SATA is a hard drive interface. Two completely different things. NVMe (which the spectre and most newer laptops have) is an order of magnitude faster than SATA SSDs and while SATA SSDs are an order of magnitude faster than spindles, the cost difference is minimal and with the performance so great, I would NEVER recommend SATA SSDs over NVMe.
