asked on

alternatives to Adobe Acrobat (Pro) & accurate OCR

Is there any good lightweight PDF reader (which enables partial

editing & insertion of signature) that is freeware?

I find Adobe Acrobat installs lots of miscellaneous stuff & the

trial 7 days Pro version (though it gives accurate OCR conversion

to MSWord/Excel), is rather heavy resource.

Anyone tried ReadIris & Nuance/Omnipage?  Are they accurate

in OCR conversion & easy to use?

>How to OCR pages in a PDF with free software - PDF-XChange Editor
I've found that Adobe XI Pro could not OCR a jpg image file so can
PDF-Xchange editor OCR a jpg (or png) file?  Or I print the jpg/png
to a PDF & then use it to OCR?  Would this work?

> PDF-XChange can OCR but cannot scan, while the free Foxit can scan but cannot OCR
By 'scan', it means use it with an external scanner (USB or mobile phone)?
