Apple pencil alternatives

Dear experts,

I have a Ipad pro 2nd Gen 12.9 inch and a Ipad air 2020

For each of the above apple products, I have their respective apple pencils.

I plan to purchase ipad pro 5th gen 12.9 inch

Since I already have the recent version of apple pencil I do not want to purchase another apple pencil (recent version).

Mostly, I write mathematics on goodnotes.

CAn anyone suggest an alternative to apple pencil which does a good job for writing on good notes.

The youtube reviews are quite confusing to learn on our own.

Kindly advice.

Thank you

Let Tom tell you the best alternatives for the new year.

Yes I think it should with that model. It's really just the old generation ipads that weren't compatible.
Don't waste money on third-party stylus. Apple Pencil 2 is the best for your new iPad Pro.

It really depends on your actual usage and habit.

Do you only write notes occasionally?

With you remember to charge it after using it?

Battery life is my first criteria for choosing / upgrading a mobile device.
Just my additional two cents - I had an Apple Pencil with an iPad pro about 8 or so years ago. After a problematic house move, the apple pencil was lost for several months. Found it again only to discover that the battery was absolutely dead and could not be recharged because it had been dead for so long (per Apple's support).

While this might not be a common problem for everyone, having a nearly-new $100 device become an unchargeable paperweight was really frustrating. The Crayon might not have as much battery life but it's a lot cheaper to replace if it is lost, breaks, or dies.
I'll also note that Amazon returns are pretty easy these days so if you buy the crayon from there and it doesn't meet your expectations, it's easy to return. I don't have a lot of experiences with Apple returns, although if you're willing to shell out the extra bucks for the apple pencil, you'll at least know you got the premium product.
If you select Logitech, buy it from Logitech store instead of Amazon as there are counterfeit ones which do not work reliability.

Usually if you buy an item that says it's sold by and shipped by Amazon.com (right next to where you add it to your cart), it's a pretty safe bet. Logitech relies heavily on retailers.

Counterfeit hardware is usually only a problem on Amazon when you're buying from third parties that are selling -through- Amazon, and Amazon will tell you this upfront (e.g. "Sold by: Shadydealer86").

I've bought a lot of hardware (every kind of computer hardware you can imagine that they sell, including a lot of Logitech stuff) and other stuff from Amazon for many, many years. I've never been burned by something that was supplied directly via an Amazon warehouse.
Agreed.

But,  make sure that you have read all reviews before making any decision.
Hello Jackie Man

Thank you

Do you only write notes occasionally?, No regularly every day for atleast 12hous for the last four and half years. I am doing Stochastic Calculus. I am preparing my own notes

With you remember to charge it after using it? Ok thank you

Battery life is my first criteria for choosing / upgrading a mobile device.
reply: I charge my apple pencil atleast once every day
gr8gonzo,

Thank you for all the advice you have have been given above.

I live in India. My brother is coming from USA. I am not sure I can asker to check if it is sold and shipped by Amzon.

Sitting in India, I can see this link for Logitech crayon.

https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Crayon-iPad-6th-Mini/dp/B07JFP5G4L/ref=sr_1_3?crid=12A01F9CZHFIJ&keywords=logitech+crayon+for+ipad&qid=1643126886&sprefix=logitech+cray%2Caps%2C442&sr=8-3
I cannot verify it is sold by Amazon.

In case you are in US can you suggest if this si a reliable link.
Thank you for your time

That particular link says it is sold by a 3rd party called "Toys House". I'm not sure if Amazon changes the page information based on region, but below the Add to Cart and Buy Now buttons, it should tell you where it ships from and the "Sold By" information.

You can see the profile page for that 3rd party seller here:
Amazon.com Seller Profile: Toys House

It seems legitimate but still relatively new, so it's up to you whether you want to trust that seller.
Here you go!

Why not to buy from Amazon India?

Will you write continously for 5 hours or above every time? If yes, you need to recharge it twice daily.

If you do not want to recharge so frequently, buy Apple Pencil 2 instead as the battery life of Logitech Crayon is only about 50% of Apple Pencil 2.

All sorry for the late response.

I have been using Logitech from about a week after I posted this question.
It is certainly a good alternative to Apple pencile for taking notes on goodnotes.
Battery charge does not last as long as Apple pencil did.

But I think Logitech Crayon is a good alternative
