asked on

Is there anything wrong with this RSS / xml File?

I have an already existing podcast that you can currently see on Apple. Thing is, it's been a while since I've added any content.

I'm ready now to add some new broadcasts, but it looks as though that some things have change with the way pocasts are set up and the RSS feed is based on something other than the xml file I've got on my server.

Is that right?

I'm asking because of some things I've seen on Google, but also because I've made some changes to the xml file and while some of the verbiage has changed, the image file that I'm referencing has not changed.

That's what's making me think I may be missing something.

So...

Does Apple still use an xml file hosted on a remote server for it's RSS feed? If not, what's the new format and do I need to start all over again? If the xml file that I have is sufficient, why is it that the change I've made to the graphic (referenced as a new file name) doesn't show up?

Thanks!

Here's a portion of my xml file:

Better to test + know, than guess.

https://www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_validator.asp provides 1x validator you can use.

ASKER

No errors found.
1) Does Apple still use an xml file hosted on a remote server for it's RSS feed?

Yes.

2) If not, what's the new format and do I need to start all over again?

See #1.

3) If the xml file that I have is sufficient, why is it that the change I've made to the graphic (referenced as a new file name) doesn't show up?

You'll now switch over to Podcast XML Validators, like https://podba.se/validate/ or many others.

4) Since you're likely using WordPress, one of these might be useful...

https://wordpress.org/plugins/powerpress/

https://wordpress.org/plugins/seriously-simple-podcasting/

As both of these build up the correct XML for you.
David, I really appreciate your feedback!

As far as the plugins you referenced, which one do you use?
