Hp proliant 360 g10 windows 2022 server install

Hi

Trying to install server 22 from cd to an hp proliant 360 g10 server.  Using an external drive and the supplied win22 (hp) dvd with an external drive im getting nowhere.

Managed to get it to boot once and it failed to load the os from cd.

Thereafter tried legacy boot/bios but had red screen.

9/10 doesnt boot.

DVD's can have scratches, the Players can be unreliable, If you have the choice don't install OS's from optical Media. Rather put the iso on a USB stick and boot that way, or use the iLO which most HP servers have, to install the iso. Possibly you can download the Windoze Server iso from the HP site, or you should also be able to get a non-branded iso directly from the M$ site.

Have you tried updating Intelligent Provisioning to the latest version and using that rather than a manual install?

@ andy - no. i've not used this before.  looks like it runs a config of network settings etc..

IP is the replacement or the SmartStart deployment tool CD,  It guides you through hardware configuration (RAID arrays) and OS installation. The network setting is so that it can grab firmware updates from HPE's webserver and do a network install from an ISO or DVD mounted on a workstation.

before you do that, make sure you install the latest service pack for the server as it contains the drivers for server 2022

Gen10 Service Pack for ProLiant (SPP) Version 2021.10.0

Managed to install the os using a usb stick and legacy bios mode.  Unfortunately it was restarting after completion/  so tried the uefi but this doesnt boot at all!
ideas?

I also ran the IP and updated the firmware. it failed to install the os from the shared drive. in my case my PC dvd.

could be the way the iso was written.  i have used rufus before but found better success with ventoy

it creates a bootable flash drive (you can select between bios/efi) and can simply add iso images directly without doing anything else and it boots that way by showing the iso files in a boot menu.  works great for something like a 64gb flash drive with multiple images and can add/remove as needed.  worth a shot...

Ok, managed to get it working.
Where can i get the drivers from?  Passport isnt working,.

Avatar of Seth SimmonsSeth Simmons🇺🇸

did you look at the link i posted? there is a download link on the right under SPP ISO

He has to install the OS first, SPP comes after. IP will put sufficiently good drivers on to complete the installation so long as IP is up to date and if it can get to the web it should update itself.

the service pack is a bootable iso; doesn't need an OS installed when using in offline mode

Offline mode - Server is booted to the .iso image
  • Interactive mode - Follow the onscreen steps to update firmware components.
  • Automatic mode - Firmware components will be updated without interaction. Automatic mode will by default run firmware update without any user interaction after sitting 10 seconds at the menu screen when an SPP .iso image is used to boot the server.

I thought you were talking about drivers, not firmware, because you said "before you do that, make sure you install the latest service pack for the server as it contains the drivers for server 2022".

This service pack must be remarkably clever if it updates the drivers before the OS is installed.

Is the service pack like the old smart start cd?

Anyway. I need the SPP for drivers now?

SPP doesnt seem to have installed the network card software.  is this typically included?
i was planning on teaming the nics up (there are 4 but only 2 connected atm)

Hasn't been around for a long time since it's built into Windows.
